The Other End Of the Line was the film which Shriya was depending a lot, her debut film in Hollywood. The film produced by Ashok Amritraj which released in US last Friday has bombed miserably at the box-office and the reviews too has been scathing.
The film made on a shoe-string budget of $ 2.5 million (Rs 12.5 crore), could gross only $ 57, 000 (approximately Rs 28 lakhs) from 91 screens in its opening weekend.
A leading US distributor of Tamil films says: "Shriya's Rajnikanth film Sivaji collected almost four times this amount in its opening weekend from lesser number of screens!" The failure of the film has Shriya now looking more eagerly at Kollywood.
She has more or less taken a decision to stick to Tamil cinema and compete with arch rival Nayanthara! A few days back she has signed Vishal’s Thoranam, to be directed by debutant Ayappan. She will be shooting for the film by the end of the month.
Actor Vishal will share the screen for the first time with Shriya. Buzz doing the rounds in Kollywood right now is that Vishal will pair with Shriya for his forthcoming film 'Thoranai'. The movie would be directed by a debutant Ayappan.

Vishal, one of the young sought-after heroes in Tamil Cinema, managed a lukewarm response for his recent release 'Satyam'. He is now keen to bounce back in style with his next film. After taking his own time and listening to various scripts, he has zeroed in on 'Thoranai'.
A commercial entertainer, the movie would go to the floors very soon. Shriya, who is acting with Sarath Kumar in 'Jaggubhai' is reportedly mighty keen to do well in Kollywood after her maiden Hollywood film. 'The Other End of the Line' bombed at the box office in USA. The film produced by Ashok Amritraj featured prominent Hollywood actors alongside Shriya.
'Thoranai' would be a bi-lingual film, made simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu.
