Gone are the days when satellite television channels completely depended on filmdom for content and in the process make money. Going by recent trends, a U turn of sorts is happening. Television networks are foraying into movie production and distribution big time. Moreover, though film content has come to stay as staple diet for television channels, reality shows and soaps are also given equal prominence.

Sun Pictures has shown the way with aggressive On Air Promotions for the film 'Khadalil Vizhundaen' which they bought once the film was completed. With aggressive promotions, the whole of Tamilnadu was looking forward to the film's release. And all this despite the fact that the film boasted of no star value whatsoever. 'Kadhalil Vizhundaen' did not disappoint at the box office and the makers would have to thank the aggressive campaign Sun Network indulged in. With this success Sun Pictures has now bought the film 'Thenavattu' that stars Jeeva and Poonam Bajwa.

Following this trend, Kalaigner TV has started aggressive campaign for the Suriya starrer 'Vaaranam Aayiram'. The film that brings Gautham Vasudev Menon and Suriya together after the smash hit 'Khakka Khakka', has been bought by Cloud Nine Pictures that has been floated by Dayanidhi Azhagiri son of M. K. Azhagiri.

Zee network too is making its presence felt in Tamil Cinema. The network has bought the highly anticipated film 'Naan Kadavul' which has been directed by Bala.

Raj TV is co-producing the film 'Mahane En Marumahane' which is expected to be a family entertainer with the antiques of Vivek.

Television networks have indeed become forces to reckon with and many films of the future may be produced by these networks that adhere to the corporate style of cinema business

Story Of Naan Kadavul

‘Naan Kadavul’ is director Bala’s latest venture. With Arya and Karthika in the lead roles, the movie is produced by Sivasri Sreenivasan and directed by Bala. The movie, as the title suggests, is based on a unique storyline in the holy town of Varanasi. The town, as we know, is known for its mystics, saints and holy men. It is a place where people go on a spiritual quest. Arya’s new image with bearded face and tramp-like appearance suggest that the story may revolve around spiritual quests of an individual. The music for the movie is scored by maestro Ilayaraja while the dialogues are penned by acclaimed novelist Jayamohan. Kannada actor Devaraj is said to play the role of a villain. Sources reveal that Krishnamurthy, renowned classical singer and winner of the Kalaimamani award this year, is also said to play a role in the film

'Naan Kadavul' gearing up for a release

'Naan Kadavu'’ directed by Bala starring Arya and Pooja in the lead roles, is finally gearing up for a release. The film was in the making for over a year. The film was delayed due to many reasons and has been completed recently. The post production work for the film is going on. Bala has been roped to do his next film for C TV Entertainment. The sources say that Bala has been paid a huge amount for the project. The story for the film is ready and the hunt is on for the star cast of the film

Shriya completed her last day shoot with Vikram for Susi Ganesan's Kanthasamy on Friday (Oct 31) evening,She have completed Kanthasamy, which has shaped out as a beautiful entertainer.The actress told about upcoming movie of K.S Ravi Kumar directed Jaggu Bhai, where she plays the 19-year old daughter of Sharat Kumar. "She really enjoyed being Sarath Kumar's brattish but loving daughter, the crux around which the film revolves. She think it will be one of my best films."
She is all excited about her forthcoming Marmayogi with Kamal Hassan. "When Kamal sir gave me a bounded script and a narration of the film, She was truly hooked. She think it will be a landmark film in Indian film history. Gauthami has designed my costumes and jewellery in this period drama, which will be spellbinding."
And as far as her future assignments are concerned it looks like Arya with Dhanush may not happen. And the film with Vishal for GK Films to be directed by debutant Ayappan is still under negotiation, and nothing has been firmed up. Her English film The other end of the line got released on Friday October 31 in US. Now she is doing Deepa Mehta's What's Cooking Stella?.

Laadam Audio Released

The audio launch of Cosmos Films’ Laadam was a star studded affair at the Sathyam Cinemas.
Young guns of Kollywood like Arya, Prasanna, Shaam, Sibiraj and Srikanth turned up for the event apart from Ameer, Sathyaraj, Editor Mohan, M Raja, Subramania Siva and actress Shammu.
The directorial venture of Prabu Solomon has music by Dharan and everyone on the dais was all praise for the young music director.
Three numbers of the film were screened including a duet between debutant hero Aravindan and heroine Charmi which had a hot kissing scenes and some seductive moves.
After watching the songs, actor Sibiraj in a lighter vein commented on why director Prabhu had not kept such scenes for him in Lee!
Dharan’s music and camera by Sukumaran, a former still photographer, came in for great praise by Ameer who for the first time perhaps, kept away from any controversial remarks!
Sathyaraj felt that the film had the potential for success since the chemistry between the lead pair was good along with the cinematography and music. However, he managed to use the occasion to voice his views on the Sri Lankan Tamil issue while Subramaniam Siva vociferously seconded his views.
The film also stars Kota Srinivasa Rao and the trailer showed some high action sequences. A rap number by the Malaysian singers Dr Burn and Emcee Jesz are also in the film.
The song sequences shown included a Madonna like number by Charmi and some international girls along with a rap song filmed on some villainous characters. Well, we’ll have to wait and watch if the music, action, Charmi’s charm and Aravindan’s acting bring the audiences to the halls

Charmi, the first heroine of Simbu is making a comeback to Kollywood after completing a successful round in Tollywood.
The actress made her debut four years back with T.Rajender's Kaadhal Azhivathillai along with the hero Simbhu. But she couldn't get anymore offers in Tamil, but clicked well in Telugu films like Lakshmi, Pournami, Style etc., and done some Malayalam films too.
Prabhu Solomon, the director of Kokki and Lee is bringing her to Tamil again after four years for his new film Laadam. A new face hero will be plays against the actress in this film. According to the director, the actress will be playing a powerful role in the film. Her bubbly and sexy look will helps to portray the character more impressive. Charmi is playing the role of a female gangster, and has five top south Indian villains opposite her!
