This year, the biggest headache for Kollywood was the colossal failure of the Rajinikanth's Kuselan which was sold at a high rate.After the film bombed, the distributors and exhibitors who had paid fancy MG's asked for a compensation package from the producers Kavithalaaya.Kavithalayaa passed on the buck to Pyramid Saimira who had purchased the film from them at record price of Rs 65 crore. So the theatre owners went after Pyramid and asked them to refund their losses.Rajinikanth had at that time said he will give a part of the compensation, but nothing was given. Recently at his fan meeting he confessed that he did not get Rs 25 crore as salary for Kuselan and the producers had made a mistake by selling it at such a high rate.Now the Tamilnadu Theatre Owners Association (TTOA) has announced that they will not screen Kavithalayaa's new Arjun film Thiruvannamalai due in December and Pyramid Saimira's Bala directed Naan Kadavul releasing for Pongal.R.Paneerselvam, Secretary of TTOA, says: "A Rs 6.65 compensation package has been worked out to be paid by all concerned. But they have paid only Chennai city, Chengalpet, TK, Madurai and Salem area theatres. They are yet to pay Coimbatore, Tiruchi and North Arcot area people, so we have decided to boycott their films."
